Case study · Grove

Seeing where your money is heading, not just where it's been

Grove is a shared finance tracker that turns a history of account balances into a clear projection of where a household is going.

The problem

My fiancée and I wanted one answer to a simple question: are we heading in the right direction? Budgeting apps told us where last month's money went. Spreadsheets could answer the bigger question, but only if one of us kept rebuilding them. Neither gave us a shared view we'd actually open together.

What I built

Grove tracks account balances over time and projects them forward, so the trend is the first thing you see. Entering a balance takes seconds. The payoff is a picture both of us can read at a glance, without a finance background.

Balances, not transactionsTracking every purchase is where most people give up. Logging a few balances is sustainable, and it's enough to see the trend.
Built for two peoplePlain language and a calm visual style so it works as a shared conversation, not a spreadsheet one person owns.
A warm, natural paletteMoney is stressful. Earthy greens and browns keep the tool feeling steady rather than alarming.

We use Grove together to check our progress and keep our plans on track. It turned money check-ins into a quick, shared habit instead of a chore.
